Port 153 UDP
Simple Gateway Monitoring Protocol, predecessor to SNMP
Simple Gateway Monitoring Protocol (SGMP) is the legacy predecessor to the more commonly used SNMP protocol, and as a result has some very similar features.
The protocol allows monitoring utilities to either get or set values from a gateway via UDP 153 and SGMP packets, these could be used to monitor many aspects of the gateways such interface status and throughput, or system uptime.
The protocol rarely used anymore, as it lacks many features, and has a lack of security which is improved within the newer SNMP.
