Veritas PBX is a proprietary connection-brokering and multiplexing service, not a conventional voice Private Branch Exchange and not a SIP/RTP service. Veritas components connect to the PBX listener on TCP 1556, which routes sessions to the appropriate product service; the protocol uses Veritas-specific framing and service identification rather than a generally recognizable text handshake. UDP 1556 is included in the historical registration but is less commonly encountered in current NetBackup deployments. Related NetBackup listeners can include vnetd on TCP 13724 and bpcd on TCP 13782, depending on the product version and configuration.
