Technical Details

what runs on :10002

The IANA assignment covers both TCP and UDP port 10002, but Documentum deployments generally use a configured TCP listener for the proprietary native Content Server protocol. It is not an HTTP service and normally does not provide a useful generic banner; protocol framing, authentication, and capabilities depend on the Documentum server and client versions. Documentum environments commonly also use a Docbroker, traditionally associated with TCP 1489, to locate repositories and content servers. Port numbers can be changed during deployment, so the assignment alone does not prove that every Documentum installation listens on 10002.

security overview

A Content Server exposed to the internet gives attackers a direct path to a sensitive document repository and its authentication interface. Access should normally be restricted to trusted application and user networks, with Documentum authentication, authorization, patching, and audit controls enforced; native traffic should use the deployment's supported TLS or VPN protection because the service is not inherently safe to expose merely because it requires authentication.
