Technical Details

what runs on :7095

JDP carries discovery announcements over UDP, commonly using multicast on port 7095 (with multicast group 224.0.23.178). A Java management agent sends datagrams containing fields such as the JMX service URL and instance metadata; discovery tools listen for and parse those announcements. JDP advertises how to reach JMX but does not itself provide the JMX management connection.

security overview

JDP announcements are not encrypted or authenticated by default and can disclose a JVM's JMX endpoint and identifying metadata to listeners on the multicast network. JDP itself does not grant management access, but protect any advertised JMX endpoint with appropriate authentication, encryption, and network controls; multicast discovery is generally intended for a local network, not internet exposure.
