Technical Details

what runs on :6084

This is the TCP registration for RELOAD (Resource Location and Discovery), the IETF peer-to-peer overlay protocol described in RFC 6940. RELOAD peers establish a TLS connection and exchange framed binary protocol messages for overlay operations such as joining, routing requests, and storing or retrieving resources; it is not an HTTP service or a configuration-file download endpoint. Port 6084 is the protocol's default port, and RELOAD also specifies a datagram transport using DTLS.

security overview

Expose this port only when the host is meant to participate in a RELOAD overlay. TLS protects the connection, but an exposed peer may still receive overlay traffic and requests, and its effective access controls depend on the overlay configuration and peer credentials; the protocol's rarity also makes it sensible to restrict access and keep implementations patched.
