Technical Details

what runs on :5075

PVAccess (PVA) is EPICS's binary protocol for exchanging structured process-variable data. TCP port 5075 is the conventional channel for client/server operations such as reads, writes, RPCs, and subscriptions or monitors; discovery commonly uses UDP port 5076. It is distinct from the older EPICS Channel Access protocol, commonly associated with TCP/UDP 5064 and UDP 5065. The IANA description identifies the Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System, and PVAccess is the established protocol used for that purpose.

security overview

PVAccess traffic is not encrypted by default. Depending on server configuration, a reachable client may be able to read or monitor process variables and may also be able to write values or invoke operations, potentially affecting controlled equipment. Keep it on trusted control-system networks, restrict access with network controls and any supported server-side access controls, and do not expose it directly to the internet.
