Technical Details

what runs on :47808

BACnet/IP normally uses UDP port 47808 (0xBAC0), carrying BACnet application messages inside BACnet Virtual Link Control (BVLC) frames. Devices may use broadcast addressing, foreign-device registration, and BACnet Broadcast Management Devices (BBMDs) to distribute traffic across routed IP networks; UDP operation has no connection handshake. The service is also registered for TCP, while newer BACnet Secure Connect deployments use TLS-protected WebSocket connections rather than ordinary unencrypted BACnet/IP.

security overview

Ordinary BACnet/IP is generally unauthenticated and unencrypted, and exposed devices may reveal building topology, equipment state, schedules, and control points. Internet exposure should be avoided; restrict it to required building-management networks with segmentation, filtering, and secure remote-access mechanisms, because reachable controllers may permit unauthorized monitoring or manipulation.
