Technical Details

what runs on :44322

The registered service is pmproxy, part of Performance Co-Pilot (PCP), a system-performance monitoring framework. In a normal deployment, pmproxy listens on TCP port 44322 and acts as an intermediary for remote PCP clients, forwarding requests to the relevant PCP services; it also provides PCP's HTTP/JSON interface. PCP's principal collector daemon, pmcd, normally uses TCP port 44321. Although IANA lists both TCP and UDP for this assignment, pmproxy is normally used as a TCP service.

security overview

An exposed proxy can give remote clients access to host or archive performance metrics, which may reveal system details useful for reconnaissance. Restrict it to trusted monitoring networks and use the deployment's supported access controls and transport protections; do not assume the default connection is encrypted.
