Technical Details

what runs on :4155

The Bazaar smart server uses a persistent TCP connection and a versioned, framed request/response protocol, beginning with a server greeting and then carrying repository operations. TCP 4155 is the conventional port for bzr:// access; the IANA registry also lists UDP, but the Bazaar smart-server protocol is TCP-based. The bzr+ssh:// transport instead carries the protocol through SSH, commonly on port 22.

security overview

Plain bzr:// traffic is not encrypted by default, so repository data and operations can be exposed to network observers. Access and write permissions depend on how the server is launched and the permissions of its service account; avoid exposing it publicly unless access is deliberately controlled, and prefer bzr+ssh:// across untrusted networks. Internet-wide scan data provided for this entry has no observations of the port open.
