The Ice location service resolves indirect object references, allowing a client to find the adapter endpoint for an Ice object through a locator rather than having the endpoint hard-coded. The SSL endpoint normally uses TLS over TCP, followed by Ice's binary protocol framing and request/response messages; the corresponding non-SSL IceGrid Registry client endpoint is commonly configured on TCP 4061. IANA lists this assignment for TCP and UDP, but the SSL endpoint is ordinarily a TCP listener, not an HTTPS service or a general UDP/TLS service.
