Technical Details

what runs on :2135

GRIS uses an LDAP-based query and response protocol, normally over TCP port 2135; UDP is also registered but is not the usual transport for LDAP queries. Resource-specific information providers populate the directory, which clients query with LDAP searches and filters. In Globus MDS deployments, a GIIS could aggregate information from multiple GRIS instances, commonly using a separate service port.

security overview

GRIS generally exposes operational and configuration information rather than providing administrative control, but unauthenticated or cleartext deployments can disclose details about grid resources and infrastructure. It is a legacy service and should normally be restricted to trusted grid networks or protected with appropriate access controls rather than exposed to the public Internet.
