Technical Details

what runs on :2080

Autodesk NLM is based on the FLEXlm/FlexNet licensing protocol. In a typical deployment, clients first contact the license manager process, commonly on TCP ports 27000–27009, and are then directed to the Autodesk vendor daemon on TCP 2080; the daemon performs license checkout, renewal, and release operations. The protocol uses proprietary request and response messages over TCP and is not normally encrypted. Although IANA lists both TCP and UDP for this assignment, normal FLEXlm Autodesk deployments use TCP.

security overview

This service should be restricted to trusted license clients and should not be exposed directly to the Internet. An exposed instance can disclose licensing information and allow probing, license-consumption or availability attacks; administrators should firewall it to authorized networks and keep the Autodesk licensing components updated.
