Detailed Description
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; color: black; background: white; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">While this is not an official port it is still commonly used, as an alternative for <a href="../../ports/80_hypertext-transfer-protocol-http">HTTP</a>, which we suggest you check out for more information.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; color: black; background: white; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">The standard <a href="../../ports/80_hypertext-transfer-protocol-http"><span style="color: black; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none;">HTTP</span></a> port is TCP 80, and in some instance two applications on the same server/client may be using the <a href="../../ports/80_hypertext-transfer-protocol-http">HTTP</a> protocol, however they are not able to bind and share the same standard port, therefore an administrator of the system will typically use an alternative but familiar port, such as this one.</span></p> <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10.5pt; font-family: Verdana; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; color: black; background: white; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;">It may also be used for some light security, where an interface is moved to a less common interface to try make it harder to find. However due to its common use, this is not very effective.</span> </p>
