SUPDUP is a byte-oriented remote terminal protocol related to Telnet, documented in RFC 736. A client connects to the server and exchanges terminal characteristics such as screen dimensions and capabilities, after which terminal input and display/control data are carried in a negotiated stream. Its normal deployment uses TCP port 95; the IANA assignment also includes UDP, although TCP is the expected transport for interactive sessions. The protocol is not a modern replacement for SSH and has no encryption by default.
