Technical Details

The peers establish a replication session and stream database changes and related state from the master to the standby; port 4851 is the conventional replication port, while Derby Network Server client traffic commonly uses 1527. IANA lists both TCP and UDP for this assignment, although Derby replication deployments are generally associated with TCP.
