Technical Details

what runs on :2512

Citrix IMA is the management and coordination protocol used by XenApp and earlier MetaFrame/Presentation Server deployments. The IMA service listens on port 2512 for server-to-server farm communication, including management and configuration operations; deployments may also use the related Citrix ports 1494 for ICA, 2598 for ICA session reliability, 80/8080 for Web Interface or StoreFront-related HTTP, and database-specific ports for the IMA data store. IMA traffic is normally encrypted by default, although its configuration depends on the Citrix release and deployment.

security overview

Port 2512 is intended for trusted communication between Citrix farm servers and should not be exposed directly to the public internet. Internet exposure can disclose or permit access to sensitive application-delivery management interfaces and should be restricted with firewalls to the required Citrix infrastructure.
