Technical Details

what runs on :2382

The IANA assignment covers TCP and UDP, although deployed SSAS redirector traffic is primarily associated with TCP. A client contacts the redirector with an Analysis Services instance identifier; the service returns the endpoint information needed to connect to the corresponding SSAS instance, after which OLAP queries and other protocol traffic use the returned service port. Default-instance SSAS commonly listens on TCP 2383, while named instances may use dynamic or explicitly configured ports.

security overview

This port should not normally be exposed to the public internet. An exposed redirector can disclose Analysis Services instance and endpoint information and help attackers locate a sensitive database service; the actual security impact depends on authentication, authorization, TLS configuration, and the SSAS listener reached after redirection.
