MySQL Instance Manager normally listens for client connections over TCP port 2273 and accepts administrative commands for configured mysqld instances, such as starting, stopping, and checking instance status. It uses its own text-oriented management protocol rather than the regular MySQL client protocol on port 3306; the IANA registration lists both TCP and UDP, but normal operation is connection-oriented TCP. The service was deprecated and removed from later MySQL releases, so current systems rarely have it listening.
