Technical Details

what runs on :22125

DCAP is a dCache-specific client access protocol carried over TCP. A client connects to the dCache door, performs protocol negotiation and authentication as configured by the site, and requests file operations; the door may arrange access to the pool holding the file, with data-transfer endpoints handled by the dCache deployment. TCP port 22125 is the conventional DCAP door port. DCAP itself does not provide TLS encryption by default, and related dCache doors and pool-transfer ports may also be present on separately configured ports.

security overview

A DCAP endpoint should normally be restricted to trusted site or grid networks rather than exposed to the public internet. Depending on configuration, access may require authentication and authorization, but the protocol is not encrypted by default, so file contents and credentials or authentication exchanges may be exposed to network observers; limit source addresses and use a secured transport or a more modern dCache access method where available.
