Classic Essbase deployments use a proprietary client/server protocol over TCP port 1423 for connections to the Essbase Agent. Clients typically contact the agent first and are then directed to an Essbase application; application services can therefore require additional ports beyond 1423. IANA lists both TCP and UDP, although TCP is the transport commonly associated with normal Essbase client traffic. Encryption is not enabled by default in traditional deployments, though later versions can support secured configurations or tunneling.
